We too a day tip to the Outer Banks area to look at the lighthouses and Kill Devil Hills. In this gallery you will see pictures of Bodie Island Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, and Currituck Beach Light. In the Cape Hatteras pictures you will notice some large stones with the lighthouse in the background. These stones mark the original location of the light before it was moved to prevent damage from the eroding beach sand where it stood.

Gallery.

Smoky Mountains, Tennesee

We took a trip for a week to Gatlinburg, TN, to visit the Smoky Mountains. This is a very neat show for a small venue. There were WWII fighters and planes, T-6's, F-16, P-51, and a Russian MIG fighter. On display they had the Memphis Belle that was used in the movie about the famous plane. There was also a B-25 that flew formation with the six T-6's which was quite a site. If you are close to Lancaster, OH, this is not a show to miss.

Gallery.

Philadelphia, Wildwood NJ August 2008

At the beginning of August we took a trip to New Jersey for the weekend. (Last one in 1998.) The reason for the trip was to see a baseball game at both Yankee and Shea Stadiums as this is the last year for both. After taking the train into Manhattan from Newark Airport we stopped at the hotel then headed down to the WTC site. Next we saw the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park, then walked through the financial district to the Brooklyn Bridge. This summer they are doing an art project featuring man made waterfalls. After making our way back to the hotel, which was on 49th street, we walked through Manhattan to see Carnegie Hall, Trump Tower, then to the Top of the Rock. (Top left picture.) It was pretty hazy that evening which did not yield very good pictures. The next day was the day game at Yankee Stadium, Yankees vs. Twins. Yankee stadium did not seem as special as we might have felt since we are not Yankee fans. (It was one of the most confusing and toughest venues to exit that I have been to.) Mike Mussina started and won the game, Rivera had to come in and preserve the save. Thursday we went to the Mets game vs. Philadelphia. Shea Stadium was quite a bit more colorful and seemed more inviting. We went to Times Square that night to take some pictures. We left the next day, but had one more thing left on the list, breakfast at Tom's Restaurant on 112th street. (The featured cafe in Seinfeld.) If you have never been there, it is outstanding. Flying into Newark was easier than out because they have so many planes that it always seems delayed. Anyway, it was a real fun trip and I cannot wait to go back.

Gallery.

Welcome

Welcome to Scarlet Images Blog.
